We are
Rim of the World Interpretive Association
Rim of the World Interpretive Association (ROWIA) is a California nonprofit, public-benefit corporation founded in 1982 to foster a better understanding of the natural history and resources of the San Bernardino Mountains. In partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, we maintain and staff Heaps Peak Arboretum.
Rim of the World Interpretive Association’s mission is to heighten public awareness of the importance of native plants and animals in the San Bernardino Mountains through educational activities and information, while inspiring an active interest in conservation of our natural environment.
Our vision emphasizes cherishing the National Forest, including mountain treasures such as Heaps Peak Arboretum, which will result in a thriving legacy for future generations.
The many ways to support
Donate
Help fund us!
Please consider donating to ROWIA. It all adds up. We depend on your donations to do our work; we do not receive monetary support from the National Forest Service. The brochures we print, the signage we display, the benches and fencing we replace are all paid for through your monetary support. If you have a non-monetary donation you’d like to give, contact us!
Volunteer
Dig in!
We’re always looking for volunteers. Whether it’s staffing our Information Booth, providing a helping hand at a plant sale, working in our gardens or assisting in some other way, let us know how you’d like to help! We’re a community of volunteers, and we’re ready to welcome you!
